Clare Sahling Biography
I was born and raised in Virginia. Educated in Richmond, VA I have degrees both in Soviet History (Hollins College) and in Interior Design (GA State University). After a few stints with a few architectural firms in Atlanta, I went free-lance and worked as a contract designer for most of the rest of my career.
I worked for retail firms, several businesses, hospitals and nursing homes, law firms, in all aspects of Interior Design and architectural documentation. In addition, I taught Design, Drawing and Drafting off and on. I found my niche as a Senior Designer and/or Project Architect for the interior construction documents for a whole lot of hotels – Sheraton, Hilton, Marriott (various flavors), Holiday Inn, Wyndham, Embassy Suites, Ritz-Carlton, and others.
There were always breaks over the course of the years, and I produced a number of pencil drawings, which may still be my first love. In 2009, I retired and began a new career as an oil painter.
